Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan
First recognized in 1505, Kenbishi is Japan’s oldest sake brand and the first ever to be branded. Zuishou, meaning “Auspicious Jewel,” is a rare, long-aged sake matured between five and fifteen years before bottling. This slow aging process produces extraordinary depth, richness, and smoothness—what Kenbishi’s brewers call a “wave of bliss.”
Made with Yamada Nishiki rice grown in Hyogo Prefecture, Zuishou develops a complex aroma of caramel, toasted nuts, and aged wood, followed by a full-bodied palate that unfolds with layered sweetness, umami, and gentle warmth. Despite its depth, the texture remains soft and rounded, growing more expressive with every sip.
Best enjoyed at room temperature, where its matured flavors and mellow umami fully emerge. A versatile sake for pairing, Zuishou complements grilled meats, aged cheeses, dark chocolate, nuts, and even vanilla ice cream, offering a luxurious experience for both connoisseurs and newcomers to aged sake.
